You may not have heard of J.J. Cale, but I’ll bet you’ve heard some of his music. Eric Clapton covered a few of his songs, such as “Cocaine” and “After Midnight”.
Yes, I realize I am very late for the party. While everyone else is enjoying ” The Last of Us” I am reviewing Borderlands 2. Well 60 bucks for a new game is not feasible right now in the Lefty household, so I am gonna make due with what I have! 🙂 Don’t even get me started on the new systems that will be coming out by Thanksgiving. Those will have to wait until they drop in price as well.
Where to begin. This is obviously a sequel to the original Borderlands. By using the word sequel, what I am really trying to say, as with so many video game series, it is basically more of the same with prettier graphics. They have tweaked the character types and made everything brighter, but it basically the same as the first game. A lot of running around and killing stuff and getting loot. It is mindless fun. Don’t even bother trying to follow the story, it is not even interesting enough to even try. I really couldn’t tell you what I am doing or why. I just enjoy shooting up NPCs and it is a pretty good stress reliever. The controls are solid and fluid. Your movement is quick, the pace is quick and there is the usual impossible levels which make you through your controller on the ground, but that makes for a good game! So far I have logged 40 hours in and there seems to be no end in sight. Plenty of download content will keep you busy if you do finish it. There is online play, but let’s face it, playing online sucks. I don’t need to be called an “asshole” by some random 12 year old. So I cannot give a honest review of the online features.
It is Rated “M”. The kiddies should not be playing. Save it for when they get older. I think it is down to 30 bucks now, even lower if you find it used. If you like mindless fun, give it a shot!
Thanks for reading,
Well that is what people say anyway. I however, will be returning home in just a few days. This trip is becoming somewhat bittersweet for me. I am happy to see my family and friends, but I am sad with the state of my home. North Carolina although never the source for free-thinkers and non-mouth breathers, has become an ever-increasing source of ridicule and flawed thinking by its governing party. The right wingers have taken over. They are molding this state into its own warped version of a time in this country that never really existed. They wrap themselves around the flag and claim they know what is best, meanwhile, the unemployed cannot get unemployment. They are viewed as lazy. Obviously, you are not working hard enough to find a job if you are not employed. Education gets pulled by the wayside. Pro-Choice-rs are viewed as scourges who must hate babies as much as they hate God and America. I want to go back home, but I don’t think I want to live there.
As of late, I have become enlightened enough to realize that politicians in general are the problem, not just one specific party, but I cannot help but think that things would be different in the Tar Heel State if the Democrats were running things. Apparently this breed of Republican in NC is a particularly nasty one. As a lot of Republicans are slowly learning, their extreme right view of the world is not gonna fly. Reversing time and making things like they were in the 1950’s isn’t going to happen. The world is moving forward and they do not like it. They are scared children, scared that the world is changing and evolving. Scared that their “morals and values” are being eroded by science and abortions. These same “morals and values” are held by the same people who really don’t give a shit about you and I. If you are different or you do not fit into their perfect little mold, you are the problem. The term “live and let live” isn’t exactly a mantra to these folks.
The older I get and the more I really look at the world, I get so depressed. I see more wrong than good. I guess once you reach a certain age and you can finally remove those rose-colored glasses of youth, you see real issues, real problems. You see people. Not numbers or statistics, but real people. We are all in this together and maybe I am becoming more of a “hippy” as I get older, but I think things can change. I think I could go home again. I think I might be able to help it become a place others would want to come home to as well.

Yeah…it sucked. No need to say anything else.
Things have been a mite hectic in MLCTF land of late. Rando & Lefty have been busy with work issues and I’ve been busy trying to find a job period. Luckily (I guess), I got a part-time job today. Won’t pay as much as what I was making before my unemployment was taken away (fuck you so very much, NC GOP!), but it’s better than nothing.
As is a shock to no one, episode 20 will be late. My apologies. We recorded two Saturday’s ago, but my brain has been too preoccupied with job hunting to begin editing it. Now that that’s not an issue now, I should be able to get started later this week. However, we did something different with that show and it’s going to be a more complicated edit. We’ll have it out sooner or late, I promise!
In the meantime, and without any consultation with comrades, I’m declaring this to be Admiral Ackbar week! IT’S A TRAP!!!
Don’t see a headline like this every day! Thank God!!
To have a little break from all my earlier posts. Emma Watson. Why? Why not….
